I’m a doctoral candidate in philosophy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an Affiliated Graduate Student in UNC’s PPE Program. My main areas of interest are PPE, political philosophy, and ethics. I’m also interested in ancient philosophy, history of philosophy, and philosophy of religion.

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil and am a dual citizen of Brazil and the United States. Before coming to UNC, I studied philosophy and religion at Harvard University. In my free time, I enjoy learning languages, making music (I sing and play a little piano and guitar), powerlifting, and writing poetry.

I can be reached by email at jjporter@live.unc.edu.
